Bharat Heavy Electricals has assured the
Uttar Pradesh government that all
pending projects in the northern states will
be completed on time. A meeting between
UP Chief Minister, Akilesh Yadav and BHEL
officials was recently held to review the
progress of pending projects.
The UP chief minister has directed BHEL
to complete the 2x500-mw Anpara-D
thermal power project in Sonbhadra
district, by June next year. BHEL is also
found lagging behind in other projects at
the Obra and Harduaganj power plants. The
Obra and Anpara-D projects have been
pending for over five years now. In Uttar
Pradesh, the Central utility is executing
projects worth Rs.9,000 crore, it is learnt.
Power unit commissioned: In an
independent development, Bharat Heavy
Electricals Ltd has announced the
commissioning of the third 500-mw unit at
Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project
(IGSTPP), Jhajjar - Stage-I of Aravali Power
Company Pvt Ltd, a JV of NTPC, IPGCL &
HPGCL. With this, 12 million units of
electricity will be added daily to the grid,
which will be shared by Haryana and Delhi.
BHEL earlier commissioned two 500-mw
units at the power project. With the third
unit, the project has now been completed
and the cumulative generating capacity of
IGSTPP, Jhajjar has gone up to 1,500 mw.
