Siemens has signed a contract valued at
Rs.147 crore with Power Grid Corporation
of India to build a 765kV test laboratory at Bina
in Madhya Pradesh. The lab will be built for
National High Power Test Laboratory, a joint
venture between PGCIL and others.
Siemens will be extending to this project
some of its highly advanced technologies
including 765kV make switch, control and
monitoring system (CMS) and associated
substations for 765kV and 400kV. The
project is scheduled for completion by
June 2013.
PGCIL will be the execution consultant and
the primary interface for Siemens while CESI
Italy will be the technical consultant. National
High Power Test Laboratory (officially NHPTL
Pvt Ltd) is a joint venture company formed by
PGCIL, Central Planning & Research Institute,
NTPC, NHPC and Damodar Valley Corporation.
It is an initiative by the power ministry to
provide a modern online high power short
circuit test facility in India.
