Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has
successfully demonstrated full-load
operation of its 250-mw circulating
fluidised bed combustion (CFBC) boiler at
Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd (NLC).
This is part of the 2x250-mw lignite-based
power project of NLC located at Neyveli in
Tamil Nadu. The second boiler is expected
to be commissioned soon.
Earlier, BHEL had supplied two such
boilers, of 125-mw rating, at NLC's
Rajasthan power plant.
"The successful demonstration of the
unit's performance signals the use of a
new technology for utilising India's vast
lignite resource in an environmentally
friendly and efficient manner," a
statement by BHEL noted.
According to BHEL, the 250-mw boiler
is the highest CFBC boiler capacity in the
whole of southeast Asia and has several
advanced technical features.
BHEL, with its strong technology
sourced from Lentjes, Germany, active
collaborative projects with leading Indian
and international institutes is uniquely
positioned to customize designs to meet
varying fuel properties , a statement by
BHEL observed.
